Meditation:-
Meditation yields a surprising number of
health benefits, including stress reduction, improved attention, better memory,
and even increased creativity and feelings of compassion.
Though meditation is usually recognized as a largely spiritual practice, it also has many health benefits. The yoga and meditation techniques are being implemented in management of life threatening diseases; in transformation of molecular and genetic structure; in reversal of mental illnesses, in accelerated learning programs, in perceptions and communications beyond the physical, in solving problems and atomic and nuclear physics; in gaining better ecological understanding; in management of lifestyle and future world problems.

What Happens in Your
Brain and Body When You Meditate
This is where things get really interesting.
Using modern technology like MRI scans; scientists have developed a more
thorough understanding of what’s taking place in our brains when we meditate.
The overall difference is that our brains stop processing information as
actively as they normally would. We start to show a decrease in beta waves,
which indicate that our brains are processing information, even after a single
20-minute meditation session if we’ve never tried it before.
Yoga:-
Yoga is a simple process of reversing the
ordinary outward flow of energy and consciousness so that the mind becomes a
dynamic center of direct perception no longer dependent upon the fallible
senses but capable of actually experiencing Truth.
Most yoga studios and local gyms offer yoga
classes that are open to all generations and fitness levels. It’s exciting to
enter a room full of young teens, athletes, middle-aged moms, older gentlemen
and even fitness buffs and body builders. Everyone can feel accepted and
included and, unlike other sports or classes that focus on niche clients, yoga
tends to have open arms. Whether you like to say "Om" or you can’t
stand the word “yogi” whether you are 92, 53, or even 12, yoga can help you.

ReplyDeleteThe lifestyle of Western societies can lead many people to suffer stress , causing psychological health problems such as depression , anxiety , etc. A study by Thirthalli and Naveen (2013) shows that treatment with yoga reduces cortisol levels , a hormone that is released in response to stress.
ReplyDeleteCortisol is necessary for the body as it regulates and mobilizes energy in stressful situations, but if we have too much or it increases in situations that we don't need it, it produces many side effects. By practicing yoga we can lower the levels of this hormone, and therefore, reduce stress
A study by UCLA found that people who practice meditation in the long run , have "less old" brains than people of the same age who do not. Participants who have meditated for more than 20 years have more gray matter volume. "We expected the difference to be minimal," said Florian Kurth, author of the study, "however, we observed a wide range of effects of meditation on different areas of the entire brain," he added.
ReplyDeleteIn this hyperconnected world, it is very easy to get distracted. Achieving isolation from all that background noise is very complicated. However, meditation can help you. There are studies that show that this practice improves attention by teaching us to concentrate and be aware of our thoughts. Meditation has a positive effect on the gray matter of our brain, which is the region dedicated to the control of emotions and responses. In this way, if you meditate often you will achieve greater concentration, better learning and more acute memory.
